The Oregon State University (OSU) Beavers first introduced their football team in 1893 as an independent, non-conference-affiliated team. Until 1915, with only a break from 1899 to 1902, it remained independent, but, in 1916, it joined the newly-formed Pacific Coast Conference (PCC).
Recent OSU Beavers History
Since 1964, the Beavers have been a part of the Pac-12 Conference, a conference that has won more national championships in team sports than any other conference. As the name suggests, there are 12 member schools in the conference as of October 2021, but that could change.

From its inception until 1964, the Beavers won four conference titles – 1941, 1956, 1957, and 1964. It has had one more recent title, which it won in 2000. It has had a successful run in bowl games, having played in a total of 17. Of these, it has won 11.

History
Football at Oregon State University started in 1893 shortly after athletics were initially authorized at the college. Athletics were banned prior to May 1892, but when the strict school president, Benjamin Arnold, died, President John Bloss reversed the ban. Bloss’ son, William, started the first team, on which he served as both coach and quarterback. The team’s first game was an easy 64–0 victory on November 11, 1893, over visiting Albany College.
